Christie Hageman begins the 2011/2012 season with Opera Fort Collins singing Micaëla in Carmen and with Livermore Valley Opera as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette. She also makes her second appearance with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra as a guest artist on their concert Letters from Mozart and sings Abigail Williams in The Crucible with Rimrock Opera in her hometown of Billings, Montana. Last season, Christie made her professional mainstage debut as Clorinda in the Ponelle production of La Cenerentola with Opera Colorado. She was also a Young Artist with Opera Colorado singing the title female roles in their outreach productions of Romeo and Juliet and Hansel and Gretel. Christie graduated with her Masters of Music
degree from the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder as a student of Julie Simson and with a BM in Vocal
Performance from San Jose State University, California studying with
Erie Mills. While taking a year off, Christie fulfilled her duties as
Miss Montana 2006 traveling her home state and speaking to students
with the platform “Music Makes the Difference.” Her roles at CU include the Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen, Emily in Ned Rorem's Our Town, Musetta in La Bohème, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Flora in La Traviata, and Paquette in Candide. She has performed with the CU Symphonic Orchestra as a winner of the concerto competition and placed first in the CU School of Music Ekstrand graduate performance competition. Christie has also sung with the Billings Rimrock Opera Company, Billings Symphony Orchestra, Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy, Songfest Young Artist Program in Washington, and on the Miss America stage in Las Vegas. Christie won first place in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild annual competition in 2010, placed third in the Rocky Mountain Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2011 and was a Regional Finalist in 2012. |
